Iran-Saudi relations positive for region: Mottaki

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia have a positive outcome for regional, Muslim countries.
In a meeting with Saudi Arabian ambassador to Iran on Tuesday, Mottaki expressed hope that the steps taken by the senior officials of both countries would exhibit positive impacts on the interests of both states.He said that “dialog and cooperation” between Tehran and Riyadh will elevate the position of Islamic countries in regional and international developments.
Mottaki thanked Saudi officials for their services to the Hajj pilgrims and in particular Iranian pilgrims, expressing hope for an “excellent Hajj” next year.
The Iranian foreign minister said that state visits helped expand bilateral cooperation, stressing that Tehran-Riyadh consultation can have positive effects on regional developments.
The Saudi Ambassador to Iran Mohammed bin Abbas al-Kilabi described Tehran-Riyadh relations as significant, expressing the monarchy’s readiness for the expansion of cooperation.
“Iran and Saudi Arabia have common viewpoints on the existing brotherly relations between the two countries and (this) necessitates the continuance of consultation between the two countries,” al-Kilabi said.
